Google Webmaster Tools Improves Search Query Statistics for Separate Mobile Sites

According to a recent announcement on the Google Webmaster Central Blog, new updates to Webmaster Tools has made it a more “cohesive” interface for site owners that manage a mobile site on a separate URL from desktop, such as mobile on m.example.com and desktop on www.
When viewing the m.site, owners can now set “Mobile” filters from Dec. 31, 2013 onward to see queries where m. pages appeared in search results for mobile browsers and queries where Google applied “Skip Redirect.” Skip Redirect is the term representing an instance where search results displayed the desktop URL and the user was redirected to the m. version of the URL. When Skip Redirect is triggered, managers can now see impressions, clicks, and CTR calculated individually for the verified m. site, making mobile stats more discernible.

Google has been in the process of making metrics for sites more actionable, as the mobile search queries updates come on the heels of a separate announcement from John Mueller on the Webmaster Central blog which promises to no longer make the search queries feature feel “rounded or bucketed.”

The new mobile site search queries update to Webmaster Tools could prove to be especially beneficial to B2B marketers, as previous 2013 statistics indicate nearly one-third of B2B website traffic now stems from mobile devices.
